His phone number was recently changed due to the spam messages he was receiving and it was fixed. Upon our investigation, Mr.************ account is active and well provisioned. He was also receiving spam messages from previous number. ************ complaint states that he purchased a phone, activated the device and created an account however it was set up to a wrong account and he cannot access his it online. This response is in reference to your correspondence dated May 14, 2022, regarding BBB Case number ******** complaint. We have received and reviewed your Better Business Bureau complaint. I will try to return the new phone to get a refund, and then I will get a new service other than Straight Talk. I spent the whole day chasing this problem, and it is still not resolved.
Certainly Straight Talk must understand that if someone's phone doesn't work, they should give other options to verify. They should give the options of either text or via email.

When asked how I would like to receive the verification code, they don't give any other option than via text. I've been using Straight Talk for several years, and I have never had this much trouble getting my new phone activated. So, to make a call I have to go to my neighbor's house and use her phone, but then I don't have access to my computer. No option online to use email, even though they have my email on file. That agent then told me I had to call and get a live agent to get an email verification code. I tried to get customer support several times before happening on the correct way to contact an agent via chat.

However, I live 16 miles out of town in a remote area, and I could not get home fast enough to get the code from my email. I went to ******* who sold the phone to me and they called Straight Talk and finally got a human who then sent the code to my email. They gave a phone number to call, which I did, and they, again, sent me a code via text. Since my phone is busted, I cannot receive a text message. When I tried to activate the new phone, Straight Talk wanted to verify it is me, and only gave an option to send a security code via text message. My old phone is busted, and I bought a new phone with Straight Talk.
